Badajoz Strategic Plan

The Badajoz strategic plan comprises 3 broad strategic horizons for the city:

  • A city to live in
  • Resources for quality of life
  • A style all its own: sustainability

These three Strategic Axes are further divided into Strategic Lines which give concrete expression to the Axes based on aspects linked to them. Below is the table with the list of the Strategic Axes and their Strategic Lines.

We present the Strategic Plan for Badajoz

Strategy 1. A city to live in

To make Badajoz a reliable space in which, as an urban area, the city responds to the multiple expectations and needs of its inhabitants, without losing its characteristics of quality of life, a friendly, supportive and cohesive city.

The strategic lines are as follows

  • To make Badajoz an example for the territory of a diverse city as a basic ingredient of prosperity, attracting talent and human strength.
  • To promote self-esteem of the city through knowledge and positive appreciation of its elements.
  • To achieve a cohesive city in the spaces that make it up by reducing the gaps and differences between them.
  • Promote a participatory citizen attitude with a positive approach as a way of transmitting concerns, needs and collective proposals for solutions.
  • Stimulate a tolerant city, in its maximum expressions, as an attitude to promote coexistence and as a response to the specific needs of multiple groups.
  • Promote solidarity among all actors in Badajoz as a way of responding to the city's requirements.
  • Generate a sensitive city attitude to perceive the multiple processes, networks, needs and evolutions of the city and its inhabitants.

Strategy 2. Resources for quality of life.

Promote the economic growth of the city as a generator of resources for the well-being of the inhabitants.

The strategic lines are 2.

  • Consolidate the collaborative leadership that the city maintains with the territory and boost its participation in the global network of cities.
  • Promote the diversification of the city's economic activities and their projection abroad.

Strategy 3. A style of its own

Sustainability must be a style of the city that is projected internally and externally. Sustainability as a hallmark in all its actions must contribute to establishing long distances for Badajoz, a differentiation of its city model and a way to enhance the other aspirations of its inhabitants.
