Seville 2020 Strategic Plan

The Seville 2020 strategic plan was born in 2011 to be completed in 2020. It has a complete vision of the city that is being developed in 7 main strategic axescontaining 38 objectives, y 232 proposals that have been collected in the citizen participation process.

Seville 2020 Strategic Plan

The strategic thrust was carried out between 2011 and 2013The objectives were as follows:

  1. To channel the proposals for the elaboration of the most prioritised projects, both by the different sectors of the citizenry and by the entities that make up the Executive Committee.
  2. Focus more on the deployment of productive investments, which contribute to the competitiveness of enterprises and the generation of quality employment.
  3. Impact on the deployment of the new productive and industrial model based on productive technological innovation and renewable energies.
  4. Develop prevention, protection and social promotion measures for the most vulnerable sectors.
  5. To make the city more socially responsible and its citizens more active and civically engaged in the making of the city.
  6. Deploying relational government in the city, and democratic governance as a way of generating and managing economic and social networks to enhance the city's creativity, competitiveness and social cohesion, as well as improving the capacity for shared action.

The general objectives that pursues this Seville 2020 strategic plan follow the acronym C.A.P.I.T.A.L.

  • Creative. It wants to distinguish itself as a creative, inventive, witty and imaginative city. Creativity is the basis for R&D&I when the means for its realisation are available.
  • Attractive. It is internationally known for its cultural, historical and tourist attractions.
  • Own. Seville has a widely recognised uniqueness and specificity.
  • Industrial. It values its industrial past and aspires to become a city of reference in the production of renewable energies and not only seeks sustainable development, but also makes sustainability the driving force of its future industrial and technological development.
  • Technological. It has the largest technology park in Spain and one of the largest in Europe (Cartuja 93), the presence of the technology centres of large companies and other infrastructures.
  • Open. It is a city historically linked to the meeting and coexistence of people from different territorial and cultural backgrounds.
  • Leader. The capital of Andalusia, the backbone of the metropolitan area, and the centre of the south-western macro-region of Europe must be understood as an enabling and relational leadership and not one of domination.
